song
treasures heart ... soul ... soul river spirit eyes ... roads rocky ..
priceless dreams .. blind man life .. morning sunlight .... kaleidoscope
words fly into the land of mystery .. Rachel Wicks

Your
Song
I reach deep inside
A courageous attempt
To reveal the treasures of my heart
You put a positive influence in my way
Back from the start
I remember the day your melody visited
My head and delighted my soul
I remember the day
Your melody made me dance and smile
And contemplate the beauty and grace
Of our Lord for awhile
So when I reach deep inside
To reveal the treasures of my heart
I know what's going on in there
So do you
Sometimes we just refuse to
To know He will never set us apart
Because we are forever in His heart
And though I may
Close my eyes
Plug my ears
And bathe in lies
Disguised as fears
I have known this from the start
And I knew it always
Rachel Wicks

Your
song is to my ears
As a sunrise
To my dark filled eyes
Rachel Wicks

A Song
Always so in love with freedom
Things would be supplied when you need them
A peacemaker with a gray hat and worn gloves
For decoration .... For decoration
Your soul is like a river
of all you wish to see
Your spirit like an open chord
with all your strings set free
A moments lull left not feeling so beautiful
Looking back
Looking forwards
Maybe I'll just close my eyes
Roads are rocky and I don't mean
Days filled with ice cream
Priceless dreams
Unraveled at the seams
Wanted everything to work
Sometimes, Some things, Just don't
They turn out better
Regrets die, but you won't
Rachel Wicks

A
Wise Man
I met a blind man
Who taught me how to see
Each word he said so
Significantly
There were no speeches
All was said in a nice hello
Wrapped in a smile as he
Turned to go
I realized now there's more to life
Than what meets the ear
Without a word you can speak love
Or you can speak fear
Rachel Wicks
I
Suspect
Paradise
I suspect is fine...
For those who prefer
Zero problems
And all pleasure
But I believe our problems
Grow quite meaningful
In measure
Rachel Wicks

LISTEN
It
swirls around like a cool breeze
An early morning walking to school freeze
with just enough sunlight to keep me warm
how's that for a recipe?
I have a hope
where we don't always believe
exactly what we' re told
This is the ground
This is the sky
Turn my world around
and around and around
Turn it around till I land in a field
Shining like a kaleidoscope
of color
and listen
I lay, I lay, I fly, listen
This mind that leans on words
to express how it feels
has found a new source
A truer, brighter, greener on all sides
of the fence, of course
As a soul learning contentment
I cry .... I stand .... I fall...
I lay .... I crawl .... I fly
I fly
beyond this realm
I see I'm free to fly
Where I see .... I'm free
Rachel Wicks
The Hat
I hide here under my hat
under my hat
Is where my thoughts are at
When you talk, you're talking to my hat
Not me !
For beyond the hat is where I'm at
Beyond the hat is where I'll be
If you choose to look for me
I may be mad or over joy with glee
I may be hurt
Or a may be happy
You may never know
Because you refuse to see
Past the hat
Into the land of mystery
Rachel Wicks
Why the Negative Energy Man
Why I waste my energy
On things such as pain and misery
When I could shine or glow
Why I do this
Why
Why ... I just don't know
Patience of angels
Worries of woe
Teeth gritting sand
Time passing slow
I see you shinning through your skin
I see him shining through your skin
I see your soul shining
Like a sun kissed tin
Where you are at
Where you will be
Will be fine in your heart
Now and forever
Just wait and see
You have no need to endeavor
God has given you the power
As the hippie children say to the flower
Just seeing God's smile appear on your face
Is enough to make me glad
Here, on into what ever place
Rachel Wicks
ONE MORE TIME
Why is
this hard
Why are things so difficult
When they don't have to be
So difficult
Do they
Just let it flow
Right .. but
You know the feeling
you get from running last
at full speed down the road
You're going so fast
You become a machine
and there's nothing left in you're mind
but the sight of the finish line
Lately that's just how I feel
Grab a pen and there's no thought
in my head
to even look for
One more time .. One more time
One more time
Then its time to be
what the wind knows already
Staring at my paper
I can read your face all over
This is the best you could do
Really I don't care
This is me and I never
planned on being you
It's like a ten year olds rejection
I can't stand this intersection
One more time .. One more time
One more time
Grab my pen .. empty den
Why is writing so hard
Why is everything so hard
dribble .. dribble .. dribble
dribble .. dribble .. dribble
Stop my drooling
scribble .. scribble .. scribble
you can do it
No I can't .. stop fooling
Wrack my brain .. to go insane
Just to get a wad of lard
Why is writing so hard
Why is everything so hard
One more time
Like a ten year olds rejection
I can't stand this intersection
One more time .. One more time
One more time
Then it's time to be
What the wind knows already
Rachel Wicks
April 25, 1997
It's a rainy day in July
As I think about the dreariness
I release a long impatient sigh
Out my window I stare
Why can't it be sun shinny
Why .. Why .. Why ..
Bumming, thinking, unfair
As I look down
Lighter grows my frown
Drops beautifully highlighting earths flowers
Washing away dust on our towers
Grass lifting, arisen from the dead
I imagine .. far away .. what was said
Thank you God .. Thank you
For miles and miles farmers rejoice
Rain ugly or beautiful
It is our choice
Over joy.. laughing and dancing
Their spirits float away
Rising from their jars of clay
They aren't sighing or crying unfair
They are grateful for today
Gone is all their care
This scene wipes away mind's ration
As I see the sweet rain as
compassion
